Session Start: Sun May 17 23:32:01 1998 * Crevas ejcts from the main computer and transforms to snowsled mode * Stardrive watches TV * Crevas goes down to the shuttle bay and zooms around in circles Have you been able to determine the source of the atmospheric dsturbance in Beta Chromium yet? negative, but judging its location it has to be a ship, no planets are on the outskirts of the system yet I'm not picking up any ships on scanners Signal's still there... I traced it and gave your board the coordinates... can't you find it? hmm... ok... prepare to initiate jump... we may as well investiagte my scanners don't pick up anything other than the disturbance *shrug* it could be faulty scanners...or something cloaked Go to yellow alert jump prepared Alert, yellow alert. All stations, yellow alert. and... JUMP * Lightning activates the jump * several seconds later, the LSS Freedom appears in the Beta Chromium system in a brilliant display of SFX * Autumn-Beauty (in her quarters of course) notices the alert status and again wonders why she ever joined this ship Ok... lets get some closeup views people ok, I've still got nothing but the atmosphere disturbance here, switching to visual *some 'thing" appears on screen enveloping a ship Signal's coming from that ship. Lifesigns? the ships hull integrity is at 56% can we get anything on that... cloud? Cloud... the 'cloud' is the atmosphere disturbance The Belandrian Cloud? according to scanners it's seeping into the ship's hull It is! *to SD* Belandrian? *turns to SD* the what? The Verellians lost several ships when it passed through their space. That's what they named it. what do you have on this Belandrian thing? any weaknesses? Not much. It destroyed several ships. None got out alive. sounds reassuring *to Lil* any lifesigns? I'm picking up at least 4, maybe 5 lifesigns on the ship but the cloud is confusing the scanners, I can't get a definite number Well we can't just sit here and watch, we have to do something! Launch a remote probe... let's see if we can find anyone they are organic signals though organincs... send in the human sized transport probe then probe programmed and launched * Waitstate is waiting for a status report on the probe... The probe has penetrated the cloud It is picking up 6 organic lifeforms, 2 are in critial condition Be careful. I just found the report on that cloud... It was dumped into the Freedom's memory core along with all the other stuff I was carrying... nothing useful, except they think it might be alive. They have no conclusive evidence, however. Could just be a scientist with a hyperactive imagination. That cloud, *pointing* might be alive? whatever it is, it does not like the probe It might. But there was never any proof. the probe is being crushed get those organics on board and get the probe back here attempting The ship registers as the 'Harth'Ja', a Harkkian civial ship Harkkians... basically human stock, and peaceful the survivors are boarding the probe its hull integrity is down to 12%, destruction is imminent all but one of the critial condition are onboard C'mon c'mon c'mon.......... its hull is collasping! Everything's human to you, Wait... they're humanoid... but slightly different. we don't have time for that one... get it out NOW! withdrawing the probe! SD: semantics :P * probe undocks and zooms out, the Harth'Ja collasps in on itself then explodes * Autumn-Beauty happened to be looking out the window and sees the explosion by the spires! Wait, when you've met as many different species as I have, you learn that looks, or building material, aren't all there is to a species. damn... did we get the Harth'Ja's logs? probe has landed in the shuttle bay negative the cloud caused to much interference for a transfer * Admiral-Lilwall to Crevas *to SP* move us away from the planet... we don't need that cloud coming after us * Crevas watches the probe land and beeps back at AL Assist the occupents of the probe, get them to the human med bay * Crevas beeps in confirmation and gets to work * Shadowpaw nods and moves the ship away from the cloud I hope they dont mind an automated bay :/ they don't have much choice *turns to Wait* I'm going down to med bay *to lil* good idea... I was about to suggest that * Admiral-Lilwall heads down to med bay the cloud is turning it's approaching us! Red alert! It's -- what? *looks over* HOLY...... All hands to battlestations... this is not a drill * Autumn-Beauty goes and sits down, worrying over current alert status * Admiral-Lilwall walks down the corridors and makes his way to med bay Repeat: this is not a drill it's gaining we should destroy it! start programming a jump out of here... to the Takaran system * Admiral-Lilwall enters medbay, he approaches the Harkkians I am Admiral Lilwall, first officer on this ship, the LSS Freedom... can you tell me what happened? launch a shield mine... it should, I hope, contain it for a little while armed and targeting......launched! eta to jump calc completion? I am Captain Blh of the Harkkian passenger liner Harth'Ja, and I was hoping you could tell us what happened one minute shield mine holding it should last until we jump clear in 25 seconds We picked up your distress signal, a spatial anomoly, if you can call it that, was destroying your ship. How many were aboard your ship Captain? get as much sensor data as possible info downloaded, jump sequence commencing uhh... 32 crew 240 passengers * Admiral-Lilwall frowns I assume we five are the only survivors? I'm afraid so vitals on subject failing....unable to revive * the ship appears in Takaran my pilot.....rest well friend. *turns to AL* That thing back there invaded my ship, in the passenger sections first, it appeared to suck the life from us Nothing on scanners we are in clear space your orders? take us in to dock at the nearest space dock affirmative *returns to conn* I thought it was another pirate terrorist attack I want a full report on that cloud, with whatever you can find out about it from the data we collected I'll arrange temporary quarters for you and your people, for now allow the med droid to give you all a full look over. I'll come see you again later *as AL leaves the room* Thank you... * Admiral-Lilwall walks through the corridors, "Lilwall to Waitstate" Wait here. Go ahead We lost the Harkkian in critial condition. the Capt of the ship was a survivor, he thought they were under a biological weapons attack from pirate terrorists Pirates? in that sector? we mentioned it seemed to appear as a gas form and altered the atmosphere on the ships... making it lethal for the crew to survive but I think that was to minimise resistance the Captain said it looked like it was draining the life right out of those on board hmm... *to SD* is that consistant with that report of yours? Um.. report says the ships went in and never came out... that's about all. That's not all......there was 278 Harkkians onboard. Once it moved out of their space... they didn't care. ETA to space station Krynor in the Drebanodos system is 5 hours at current speed of warp 6 * Admiral-Lilwall enters the bridge * Lightning removes a datapad from his console and hands it to Wait... "This is the information we obtained from the sheild mine" * Waitstate takes the pad Thanks... * Admiral-Lilwall takes his seat, and looks up information on the Harkkians *Turns to Wait* Any data there we can use to warn other races of that cloud thing? And on a side note about pirates in that sector I've just done a check on the most recent info we have about Harkkians well, its rather confusing data... it has multiphasic energy emmissions, properties of all the states of matter, and a rather curious overall energy signature... I can't make heads or tails of it At the time of this info, their homeworld Harkkia, was experiencing some serious government changes parts of their military rejected the changes and went rebel raiding the new government areas, ships, civilians hmm... I don't know much about the Harkkians, other than their basic biology *time passes* *in quarters, to comm* Wait here. What's up? Wait, I'd like you to come down to Medbay There's something you should see On my way * Waitstate turns off the TV and heads to the lifts * Admiral-Lilwall also calls Capt Blh to Medbay * Waitstate arrives in the Cybertronian scaled Medbay Ah....I'd like to introduce you firstly to Capt Blh from the Harth'Ja * Waitstate nods in the captain's direction "Captain" Greetings Commander, my thanks to you and your crew for rescuing us the other day I'd also like to introduce to *turns to show someone* .... to...hey.. I'm over here Admiral * Waitstate acknowledges the Captain's thanks in an appropriate manner Ah, Waitstate, meet Restore our head medic ah... hello... Restore? *looks at Lil in puzzlement, reaches out to shake the new bot's hand* Waitstate. *nods a hello* * Restore shakes the hand a medic? good to meet you Yes, uh, in light of our recent medical crisis, I set to work with the med drones and created Restore based on our new disk technology Can I have a word with you Lil? * Waitstate motions to the Medbay office Ah, sure, excuse me please.. * Admiral-Lilwall follows wait into the office *in the office* I know this was a good idea, but it was rather dangerous. I'd like to be informed next time. understood, my apologies Next time you may get an unstable personality matrix.. assuming she isn't. As much as I understand that, what's done is done, you shall be advised next time Constructing a transformer by yourself is a tricky thing. Without someone to help check for errors, you can easily make mistakes Exactly why the med drones assisted me, and Format provided information to program her well... as you said, what's done is done. Let's return to our new ally *leaves office* Commander, you weren't called down to Medbay just for my introduction * Admiral-Lilwall follows oh? what else? As I understand you had an encounter with a 'cloud' of sorts we did I've analyzed a tissue sample from the deceased Harkkian and found something quite remarkable this 'cloud' as you call it, is much more than a cloud, it is alive it's a silicon based lifeform, extremely hard for the scanners to detect due to its properties silicon based... what else can you tell me? it is my belief that, this creature requires teh electric pulses within carbon based lifeforms to survive and that this creature is a mutant of sorts I would assume... that is a dangerous thing to have around... how is it a mutant? of what? that while searching down its first meal *points to screen with pics*....... the ship it first came across saw it as an attacker, now, let's say that ship fired on this creature with a quantum torpedo? I think that due to the nature of the creature's original form...the quantum mutated it, giving it the ability to 'phase' that would explain the multiple matter states we encountered or in simpler terms....is could make itself solid...or a gas like form exactly I wonder if it is intelligent... while in its gaseous form, it could much easier penetrate ships and get to the panicking food running around inside highly intelligent how can you tell? I analyzed footage the ship took while you conducted the rescue and had a chat with the Capt here about it this thing can pass through shields easy, next it strikes any weapons, crushing them then disables the engines in the same fashion this creature strikes the ships best chances of escape... weapons, then engines hmm... I was hoping it wasn't intelligent. I hate to kill intelligent beings this thing is a thinker, and a hunter. after the engines it strikes the largest concentration of food first in this case, the passenger hold of the Hrth'ja *the diagram on the screen follows through as she speaks* then 'hunts' the those remaining that's what happened, it by passed our shields, disabled our weapons and engines, then struck the passenger hold first The best part? I don't think we can stop it while it's in a gaseous form Does it really phase, or just "pseudo-phase"? solid form, well, you might be able to tranquilize it, with enough tranquilizer to knock it out BEFORE it turns to gas, which would make the tranq dissipate * Stardrives_head appears well, think of it like this...it boils itself into a gas at will, and can then freeze itself back to a solid form at will * Restore jumps at the apearnce of the head I have a suggestion. what in the.... so it doesnt *really* phase then? * Admiral-Lilwall jumps also * Waitstate doesn't jump, having gotten used to it Sorry, Restore. I'm Stardrive... or at least a hologram of his head. technically no, but *eyeing the holo head* that's a nice way to describe it I have an idea... but how did it kill those on my ship? hmm.. that's too bad. I know some offensive and defensive methods to deal with things that phase SD: go on. what is your idea? Stay away from it. *looks to Blh* it literally sucks all the electro impulses from their bodies, then as it left their bodies, it had a burning affect on their flesh But a thing like that would literally kill BILLIONS if left alone we should warn all ships in the surrounding sectors of this creature's presence yes, want the best part? We should warn people, naturally, since we are one of very few to see it and survive. I think this thing grows larger and faster with every feed Wonderful. within a certain amout of time... it could start swallowing whole planet fulls of life * Stardrives_head sighs but! Something like that needs to be destroyed. As fast as possible. It can never be easy... but? it can't get good speed unless it's in solid form and... the more of it...the longer it will take to switch densities if we catch it in a solid form, hit it with enough tranquilizer ...... well it's just a matter of towing it away then Interesting, but where would we tow it? Towing to where!?! The zoo? I have a theory but I don't know if it will work I'm listening *to screen* Computer, display current estimated size of creature Delta1-62 Wow... that IS bigger than in the reports... at the creature's current size shown here...and not have any extra power from rocket boosters... it can NOT break orbit not from a large planet so the question is not where do we tow it..... To a gas giant? But what planet is big enough AND lacking organic life exactly, so....anyone a know nice shady place out system? I still hope there is some way we can destroy it. Do you have any idea how close organic energy system and Cybertronian laser cores are, energy wise? * Admiral-Lilwall looks at Wait and SD, "not a clue here" Several... but we'd better check the computer to be sure. Since I happen to have one in front of me... hold on. * Stardrives_head disappears But do we have a enough time to actually shoot it down? it could gas out before the weapons manage to blow it up I must note to you Waitstate..... * Stardrive walks in. There IS a flaw in this plan... what if some terrorist wants to "rescue" it and use it for his own purposes? as a medic, I am against the killing of this creature * Stardrive hands Waitstate a padd. * Waitstate takes the pad the terrorist would have to be a non organic *to Restore* I understand that. But I also think that killing one life-form to potentially save billions is worth while There are plenty of non-organic freaks that would love to watch that thing eat the galaxy. understood and noted in logic, but I still stand agaist it. Marooning it on a barren planet, I could handle that Too many Stardrive And let it starve to death... something I would try hard to forget You said it is intelligent. What if it found some way to get something to help it escape the gravity well? well I think it's similar to a shelled slug in solid form and it definatly can't assume a shape with arms and legs I doubt it knows how to read, or construct a device to assist it I imagine it, being a steller life-form, could figure out how to send a signal on a distress band though possibly.... it certainly has enough electric impulse of its own to send a long distance mind message but an atmosphere may hamper that ability Wait... CAN we kill it, even if we wanted to? you have a lot of "maybes" in your arguements Yes, the atmosphereic distortions we detected Well it is a realativly unknown lifeform commander until now no one has survived it to study it it altered the Harth'Ja's internal atmosphere... probably because it was poisonous to it before? a high probability If it lives in space... I have sent Cirrus out to monitor the cloud. We should wait for his report Would it make a difference? it could...living in space, with no atmosphere.... it being unnatural to its bodily functions Oxygen, a common componant of most organic-populated atmosphere, is highly corrosive. Perhaps it had a problem with that? Well, if you shaln't be needing me, I have agreed to assist in the Harkkians funeral ceremony for their deceased Perhaps... Whatever, the air we had to beathe burned our lungs *to Restore* Alright. I want you to do the standard tests though as soon as possible (personality typing, abilities test, etc). You are a new entity after all. We need to know about you. Of course We know more about the cloud than we know of you... heh true... heh again I thank you for your assistance in this matter Sorry 'bout the holo. * Restore chuckles and follows Blh out of medbay *to Wait* What do you think? should we kill it? Maroon it? * Stardrive waits until the doors close. You know I hate to, but I think it should be killed Are you crazy? How do we know it won't find a spark just as tasty? It did chase after us that is exactly my fear although probably just ticked off we took away its lunch Uhh I hate to bring this up now.... But let's say that thing DOES munch sparks..... Wouldn't Cirrus be a somewhat priority just now? Oh great. He is keeping a discreet distance besides, he is masking his energy signature I just hope that creature keeps a distance from Cirrus I told him to get out if there was any problem he has an IST sled, so he shouldn't have any problem escaping And hope it doesn't follow him back. Lighting to Waitstate....Cirrus reports he has just made scanner contact with the cloud, he is holding position and monitering [to comm] thanks. Tell him to keep monitoring and to tell us if anything unsusual happens. also, forward him Restore's report Affirmative, downloading data now, bridge out Well, I'm going to head out to my quarters unless there's something else? nothing. * Admiral-Lilwall leaves the room and heads for his quarters on the above deck What have we gotten ourselves into? *sounding psudo-dramatic* A mission of utmost importance! Yeah, right. Oh, I've been meaning to talk to you, though. what about? Trilana. She's told me she wants to join. Trilana? the comm bot from the refugee ship a while back? Yes. She is welcome to join. Heck, we always need new members * Restore walks back in and nods to the others * Waitstate nods at Restore I'll just plug in to my console in the office and download all the info you require * Restore enters her office, transforms to disk mode and beings the download *to Restore* its not just info. There are several diagnostic tests well commander I'm afraid they'll have to wait, this medbay is filthy! hmm... blame Lil or the Harkkians. They've been the only ones to use it thus far oh no, not that mess, I had them clean that, I mean the dust! I've never seen so much of it considering I've not seen at all till now, but that's the most I've ever seen well, the air recirculators are supposed to take care of that... oh well *back to SD* So you've kept in touch with Trilana then? Uh... I've been meaning to talk to you about that... She kinda had no where else to go, and... Well... you mean you hid her on the ship?! * Restore transforms back to robot mode and heads over to the guys... Uh... yeah. ok boys out you go, I've got work to and you can talk about your girlfriends somewhere else so scat alright, alright! * Stardrive mock salutes Reastore * Restore grabs some bloated gruesome samples and offers them to the guys.. "unless you help out that is" * Waitstate not disgusted at all, just glares and leaves I've got a comm board to work. I can't be sweeping floors. * Stardrive follows Waitstate. half your luck * Restore thinks to herself "hm, perhaphs Waitstate isn't having a good day" * Restore proceeds to do a clean up My, my, look at the time... Guess I'll get back to the bridge now... * Stardrive attemps to escape So... where have you been keeping this Trilana of yours? D'oh! * Waitstate puts up a containment field at the end of the hall Uh... well... And don't try and run off Well, she had no where to go, and my quarters are quite roomy... * Stardrive fidgits Your quarters? That explains why the security sensors didn't catch her Heh... I kind of messed with them first. You messed with the security sensors too? Just the ones in my quarters. Gee, maybe those were the fire detectors... I better put the power cell back... Well... guess I'll be going now... * Stardrive inches away. since there is nothing we can do about it NOW, there won't be any repercussions. BUT, in the future, instead of hiding the person, why don't you just ASK for quarters for them? Well... I don't know. She didn't mind sharing my quarters. She's probably still digging through all the junk... she thinks most of the stuff is interesting. * Lightning to Waitstate that notwithstanding, I won't have unauthorized people on this ship. Is that understood? [comm] Go Cirrus has reported the cloud entity is heading the direction of the Staytila-May System, a major space station resides in that system Organic life controls the system speed? *mumbling* Well... that should get me back to the bridge. Approximatly a speed equivelent of warp 1.4 then it will be a few days... Should we take action and warn the system? Hold, Cirrus reports more.... not yet... prepare a staticew space fold. It will take less time to prepare oh.. go on the creature has become gas form and stopped.... Cirrus reports distortion in the starfield...... a cloaked vessel? I'm coming to the bride acknowledged * Waitstate runs to a lift, dropping the containment fields * Stardrive follows * Waitstate walks out onto the bridge, takes his seat report The cloud is holding position distored starfield suggests the cloud can still detect organics on a cloaked ship can we get a signal in to that ship? * Stardrive sits in his recliner Cirrus is attempting to signal them He's recieving garble in return, our ship can give a stronger signal * Lightning looks at SD *hint hint* Shall I signal them, Wait? *exasperated, definitely not in a mood to take any slag from SD* YES! geez! I already did, now.. No response. They're ignoring us. *calming* Put me on the line You're on. Cirrus is reporting the distortion has faded to reveal a modified Harkkian ship it's not registered, probably one of the pirate ships Uh... Wait... the channel's been open for a while now... you going to talk? *raising voice, even though it is entirely unnescesary* This is Waitstate of the LSS Freedom to unknown Harkkian ship. You are in the vicinity of a hostile alien life form. We have encountered it before. If you can, try and get away from it as it is deadly to organic life Still no response... If they don't get away, we can never make it in time They recieved the message. They just aren't talking... How many could Cirrus carry? two, three at most Probably in a mad panic, how often does a cloud suck you dry then roast your flesh? It's possible the comm signas could attract the creature... if they know it, maybe that's why they aren't talking. are they moving away? Perhaphs we can fool the creature into thinking we have mass amounts of organics on board here * Stardrive frowns. we are nowhere near that sector though... what about Cirrus then? there must be something He's just not equipped for that I don't want to risk one of my crew members just because they are too stubborn to listen to us...
